What We Do

Ozone forecast:  TAAP teaches its audiences to “Know the Code!”  Expected ozone levels, in terms of color code and Air Quality Index (AQI) number, are forecasted for April 1 – September 30 by NC Divsion of Air Quality meteorologists.  These forecasts are distributed to local media (television, radio, and newspaper) and to area businesses and individuals.   The ozone forecast is seen by a large segment of the public on local TV news weather segments and is posted daily on our website.

School-based outreach:  TAAP has completed an interactive, educational DVD designed for grades K-5 entitled, The Adventures of Clair and CAM, featuring Clair, the Clean Air Explorer, and CAM, the Clean Air Maniac.  The curriculum introduces important, environmental messages to students using short, self-contained activities.  The activities are correlated with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in science, healthful living and social studies.  TAAP offers The Adventures of Clair and CAM curriculum and DVD free of charge.

TAAP  Business Coalition: Coalition members further TAAP’s education and outreach efforts by distributing the ozone forecast to employees and providing education about air quality.  The work done by our coalition members is an invaluable part of TAAP.  Membership in the coalition is free and just a click away.  To become a member of our Business Coalition, click here, and include “Business Coalition” in the subject heading.
